Day 102

I received an early call from the guys today! The day began with an early 4:30 am start. They are really trying to avoid the heat of midday, and getting up early is the way to do it. The ate breakfast that they had acquired the night before. Ken still had some of his cereal left from the previous night, and went to town on that. Andy had some Kixx that he had purchased, and Matt had two Jimmy Bean sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwiches. After packing up the gear and eating, they set out for the day's journey.

The sun was just about ready to come up when they left this morning. Matt said that there were still a few stars out, but the sky was beginning to illuminate. The desert views were really cool this morning at sunrise, and Matt thoroughly enjoyed them. About 10 miles in, the guys arrived in Hope, AZ. Matt said this town was perfectly placed, as he was running low on Gatorade. He had only bought two for today at the grocery store on the previous night. He told me that without this gas station, he would have been a very thirsty individual. Just after leaving the town limits, there was a sign that read, "You are now beyond Hope." They thought it was a pretty clever sign, and it deserved some blog time.

The guys moved at a good pace all day, avoiding most of the warm weather. They finished around 11:15-11:30, and headed into Somewhere, a local restaurant/bar, for something to eat. The owners of the bar asked what they were up to, and at the end of the conversation offered them the camper they were selling as a place to stay the night. They guys were done with running, had lunch, and a place to stay all before noon! They walked around the town for a bit, looked at a war memorial with some tanks, and tried to get into a library. The library is closed on Mondays, so they could not get in to it. They then made their way back to the camper for the night. They plan on taking a couple naps, getting some dinner, and getting to bed early for another early start.

A few announcements! When I began talking to them, it was 100 degrees outside! By the time I was finished, it was 114 degrees out!!!!! They are also having a gallon-off; who can drink a gallon of water the fastest! Andy was winning, but he started without telling Matt so he had the advantage. Andy wants to wish his dad, Mr. Wahila, a very happy birthday! He also wants to wish his parents Happy Anniversary! What a day for the Wahila family!

NATION!
