Day 93

Yo dawgs, this is ya boy Pampers writing at you again, now with spellcheck!! (and if something is wrong, which it probably will be, get over it.)

Today was the guys 2ND day off in the Grand Canyon. Ken, Matt, and Los woke up at 4:45 to watch the sun rise over the canyon. They drove out to Yaki Point, a nice secluded place, and waited for the sun to poke its head out. Ken was determined to see the sun the moment it was visible above the canyon. However, today was Los's day to have revenge on Ken. Sophomore year, Rick told the guys(Matt, Los and Andy) that something amazing was being shown on the Top Play on Sports Center, but they had just missed it. So they decided to wait out the hour, going through the entire Sports Center rotation just to see this clip. Right when the Top 10 came on Ken walked in the room directly in front of the TV and completely blocked the scene, ruining the guys chances of seeing it. So today as the second the sun rose, Los stood in front of Ken to get a picture of it and when Ken found this out he got really angry. This was Los's pay back, though he really didn't actually mean to do it (don't).

After, they drove back to the camp site and went back to bed. When they awoke, Los and Andy had an And 1 show down. This is when you go back and forth naming And 1 characters. Some of these incredible sport heroes include, Skip To My Loo, Escalade, Half Man Half Amazing, my personal favorite, Hot Sauce, High Octane, Baby Shaq, Spider, Spring, and A O. Los won this extraordinary battle of wits and knowledge with the show stopping character, Main Event. When they finished battling, they decided to go out and get breakfast. They told me Los had the most BALLLLLLIN cinnamon rolls ever. He had 2 plate sized rolls, that were described as disgustingly huge and delicious.

They then headed back, and went on the free shuttle buses that bring you all around the Grand Canyon. They first took one all the way to the western most point known as Hopi Point. On their way there they coined the term "lifers," which they used to describe their time spent traveling on the buses. When the boarded they would head directly to the back and take it over. There, they would ride the bus out in it's entirety and cause a scene. Once they got to Hopi Point, they hung out, took some pictures, and walked back a 2 1/2 mile trail to the center. On the way they saw some kool with a K cliffs and a tunnel.

After they decided they would head out for lunch, Matt was sure he knew the way to the cafeteria, but the other guys questioned him and thought Andy's way was the right one. They each headed in different directions and Matt was correct in his path, arriving a full 8 minutes before Andy, Ken and Los. After they finished up lunch, they "lifed" it on the bus, this time heading east. After hanging out on the eastern most part of the park they headed back to camp to figure out their route for the remainder of the trip. It turns out that some of the places they thought they would be traveling to in the future, , such as Canyon Road, California actually don't exist. This lead to some reorganizing of the overall schedule and some alternate routes were established.

Some highlights of the day, other than those already mentioned, were tonight's dinner. Los and Ken bought frozen pizza's and decided to cook them over the fire! Ken ended up eating 5 while Los ate 3. Also after a long wait smores were cooked and were delicious. The guys found it amusing today to poke fun at the so called campers in what they like to call, "generator city." These are the people who go out and camp and run their generators all day, and think they are roughing it while watching DVDs. Today they also realized that a large amount of the tourists visiting the Canyon wear massive visors. They said some were the size of lamp shades and one ladies even resembled a welding mask. Antoher funny thing they realized about the tourists is that there was a great deal of couples fighting. One lady screamed while on a hike, "I don't care if you stepped in 'doodoo' you have to keep walking!" Another women was pestering a tour guide with a million questions, and her husband yelled at her, saying she talked to much, making her stop annoying the guide. Today was also Matt's second time winning their game, Guess the Temperature! his first was all the way back in Alabama. One final thing that gave the guys a good laugh were these signs posted around the park. They stated that 250 people a year must be rescued from the canyon every year because they get in over their heads and do hikes that are far past their skill level. These signs depicted a picture of an individual who looks exactly like our good friend, Mark Siegers. They found this hilarious and would point out every sign they saw.

Matt wanted to let you all know that him and Ken are 100% and Andy is feeling much much better. They felt like their stay at the Canyon was very rejuvenating and was a good time to rest and have fun. Matt described it as very low key, where they barely talked about the run and weren't questioned about it either. He told me they are all now really energized to get back on the road after this break and they are looking forward to their remaining days. Support these guys and their dream, they are the REALEST, most BALLIN people I know!!!!!!

WERD WERD
sincerely yours,
Pampers
