Day 106

I want to welcome you all to the laziest day we have had on this trip so far. We literally did nothing the entire day and let me be the first to say it felt great. The day was so jammed packed between laying in bed watching TV and laying around in the pool/hot tub that I hardly know where to begin. Let me start from the top...

Durkin clocked out last night around 8 missing one of the best episodes of The Office I have ever seen. It was filled with classic Michael puns, Dwight and Jim battles and Kevin simply being on fire. They have never given him so much camera time and personally I feel they should be giving him more, especially after last nights performance. For those of you not yet fully introduced to The Office it is highly recommended by all three of us. Check it out and learn to laugh, cry and smile with the rest of the cast.

Because of his early night, Durkin told us this morning that he woke up at 4am ready for the day. He was partly confused as to where he was and whether or not we had to run that day. All the last few early mornings have really messed with his body. We found him at 8am in the lobby using the computer. I don't know what he did during those four hours that Ken and I continued to sleep but I am sure it was nothing very exciting or productive.

The three of us then grabbed the continental breakfast and took full advantage of all she had to offer. Cereal, yogurt, bagels, eggs, different types of danishes, and mini muffins were only a taste of what we experienced this morning. We watched The Morning Show and learned that The New Kids On The Block are back together and rocking harder than they ever did in the early 90's. I was super excited to see them back on stage dancing and performing for 10s of people. As we watched these 30-40 year old guys dance in unison we discussed how we thought our friend Rick should be in a boy band. He has that special love me look and all the right moves. The only thing missing is his ability to sing, but for some reason that has not stopped a lot of these so called boy bands. The next Pop Star Idol Rick DeCarr should be and will be auditioning.

After breakfast it was back to the room for what I like to call movie central. I did not leave the bed for a solid 4 hours of laughs. First on the list was a decent flick starring Drew Barrymore and Hugh Grant in Music and Lyrics. Durkin did not want to admit that we watched this and asked for me to keep it out of the blog but it is what happen today and it must be told. I have to admit that Drew Barrymore is one of my least favorite actors but there was a relatively decent amount of comedy in this film. It ended with your typical "I messed up and now you are mad at me until I wrote you a love song and won your heart back" ending. I give it a solid C+ B- rating.

At this point in the day Ken decided to walk to the post office in order to check on a package he was suppose to receive. Durkin and I waited patiently to see what the next movie was going to be and made predictions as to what we thought. Suddenly the screen lit up and some of the greatest words were written at the bottom of the TV. Next: Back to The Future!!! Durkin and I both went crazy and raced to see who could call Ken first. Unfortunately, I fumbled with my phone and he was the first to say to Ken "We're about to go back in time". Ken, on the other end, lost it! He was screaming "ARE YOU KIDDING ME" as he hurried his way to the post office in order to return as quickly as possible. Upon his return he stopped and grabbed us lunch as we enjoyed the movie.

I have not actually been able to sit down and watch this movie in a long time. There were so many good one liners that Marty, Biff and Doc came up with. Are you familiar with this one. Why don't you make like a tree and get out of here. Or this one. What are you looking at Butthead? It was a none stop laugh fest in room 249 between 11 and 1.

We were lucky enough to watch Back to The Future III about a month ago and if by some chance we are fortunate enough to see the second we will have completed the trilogy. Something that not many people get to experience while running across the country. Keep your ears open and if you see that TBS or TNT will be playing it in the next ten days please let us know. We will be forever grateful.

Once the movie was over I thought I should actually get out of bed and do something with the day. I immediately headed downstairs to the indoor pool and hot tub. For the next hour and a half we hung out talking. We talked about people we have met, things we have seen, and place we've been. We talked about the end of this adventure and seeing our families on the beach. We talked about our futures after the run and where we think our lives are heading. It was a very relaxing time and I think the hot tub and close to 48 hours of rest are going to be great for us these last 10 days.

Later tonight we are going to get something to eat, do laundry and stock up on Gatorade for tomorrow. With only 19 miles to run and breakfast not being open until 6:30 it looks like we won't be on the road until 7am. Even with this later than normal start we should still be finished before noon and the hottest part of the day. It is crazy to think that we only have 10 days left on the road. Even that can be broken down to four days before our friend Rick arrives and gets to experience a small part of what we have been living for the past 106 days. A few days after that Dan will be joining us before we arrive on the beach to many proud and anxious fans of ours. We have been looking at a map and feel we will be finishing somewhere close to La Jolla Beach just North of San Diego. We will let you know more on the exact location in the next few days once we get a bit closer.

Finally, for those of you who are keeping track, or even care, we want to bring you the most recent A.T.N.R.C.M.L. or All-Time NationRun Cameo Mileage List for short. With only ten days of running remaining it's now or never. If you want to add a few miles and out run a stray dog, challenge the current leader or simply brag to your friends and family that you got the opportunity to run with us please don't hesitate. Act now!

And now without further ado I give you the A.T.N.R.C.M.L. as of Day 106:
